Preservation Steps - Davidson Family Farms

The classic red barns welcome you to Dave (past FNLT President) and Linda Davidson’s 300 acre family farm in Loganville, which has an array of farm crops, beef cattle, chickens and more.  We’ll gather near their homestead by the spring fed pond to learn why they fell in love with the land and the many reasons they preserved it with FNLT.  

From there it’s a nice hike to the Codorus Creek Wetland & Stream Bank stream restoration project by RES. This project is the first wetland/stream mitigation bank in south-central Pennsylvania. You’ll hear some background from Dave and Linda, followed by a description of the importance of this major stream improvement effort by Jon Kasitz of RES.  We will be able to walk to stream segments where restoration has not yet begun, recently restored areas, and 3-year-old restoration. This will be very educational to see in various phases and stages of completion of this project over the last several years – it’s quite an endeavor!  

If we’re lucky, at the conclusion of the hike we’ll get a visit from the Davidson’s pig, George.

About FNLT's Preservation Steps: Touring YoCo's Hidden Landscapes, Presented by Glatfelter Insurance Group

These are casual hikes on FNLT preserved properties featuring landowner stories, some education from local experts and information on the importance of preservation by FNLT.  Attendees will be provided snacks, water and some selections from our friends at Brewery Products as well.  No charge for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.  Special thanks to our Preservation Steps Sponsors: CGA Law Firm, C.S.
