Preservation Steps - Heartwood Nursery
Positive, Healthy Benefits of Utilizing Native Species for Garden/Land Management
Time & Location
Jun 20, 2024, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Heartwood Nursery, 8957 Hickory Rd, Felton, PA 17322, USA
About the event
Come spend the summer solstice with FNLT at Heartwood Nursery and learn about how native plants contribute to the health of your property. Heartwood’s owner & FNLT landowner, Sue Hunter will discuss how the use of native plants in garden/landscape management can help to protect and preserve our natural environment for future generations.
Topics such as wildlife management & pollinator species, water conservation, preventing and controlling invasives, and native alternatives to plant in place of commonly sold invasives will be discussed. Participants will also have the opportunity for Sue to identify and give recommendations for unknown plants growing on their properties. We kindly ask you to bring the specimen samples to the event in a sealed Ziploc bag. Heartwood’s retail store will be open with items available for purchase following the event.
Specializing in American Holly (Ilex opaca and other Ilex species) production, Heartwood is proud to be an Official Holly Arboreta and Test Center registered with the Holly Society of America. Propagators of Nursery stock since 1988, Heartwood focuses on native trees, shrubs, perennials, and a few select non-native species. More information here - www.heartwoodnurseryinc.com
