About the event

Join long-time Rambo Run Club member Carl Knoch for walking history and anecdotes of the Rambo Run Club. RRC was incorporated as a non-profit in 1957, with one purpose stated as “preservation and propagation of fish and game for the purpose of supplying members with facilities for fishing with rod and line in the waters and territory of Rambo Run Club, and hunting and kindred recreations on the land surrounding such waters as they may own and control.”

The geology of Rambo Run Hollow is an anticline where strata fold downward, creating a microclimate, resulting in the unusual flora and fauna. Rambo Run is a freestone swiftly running stream characterized by rapids, small falls, deep pools and large boulders. It is the only Exceptional Value stream in York County.

Our friend Carl Knoch will also offer a fly fishing demonstration on this unique private property, permanently preserved by the membership with FNLT in 2009.

In addition, our friend Andrew Nevin (Senior Biologist with Thompson Environmental Surveys and Permitting) will walk with us and point out  some of the rare plant life in the Rambo Valley!  Mr. Nevin is a consulting botanist who lives in Seven Valleys, PA (adjacent to a FNLT preserved farm!) with his wife Gretchen and their three children.  He focuses primarily on botanical field survey efforts including wetland delineation/functional assessments, forestry services within the state of Maryland, field surveys for Pennsylvania Plant Species of Special Concern, and habitat assessments/species surveys for the federally endangered Northeastern bulrush (Scirpus ancistrochaetus). Throughout his career, he has been integrally involved with numerous private and public sector projects across the US.

About FNLT's Preservation Steps: Touring YoCo's Hidden Landscapes, Presented by Glatfelter Insurance Group

These are casual hikes on FNLT preserved properties featuring landowner stories, some education from local experts and information on the importance of preservation by FNLT.  Attendees will be provided snacks, water and some selections from our friends at Brewery Products as well.  Special thanks to our Preservation Steps Sponsors: CGA Law Firm, C.S. Davidson, Inc., Stock & Leader - Attorneys At Law  and YC Precision Fabrication!
