About the event

We invite all current and future FNLT supporters to the 2024 Annual Meeting of Farm & Natural Lands Trust of York County, taking place Thursday, May 2nd from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Join us to celebrate past and future success of our land preservation efforts across York County.

While there is no charge, we ask you to please RSVP for this event either on this page or by emailing Sean Kenny at skenny@farmtrust.org.  Not sure if your support of FNLT is current?  Please drop Sean a line, or bring your support dollars with you to the event!

This year FNLT is thrilled to have our Annual Meeting hosted by Heartwood Nursery & Environmental Preserve, a FNLT preserved property in Felton that features an incredible array of native plants perfect for landowners of any size!  The retail store will be open as well, so a perfect time to bring something home to plant!

Heartwood Nursery & Environmental Preserve will be serving samples of their famous Serviceberry Wine. Plus we'll have some other snacks from our friends at Flinchbaugh's Orchard & Farm Market, water and soft drinks available to hold you over until dinner, including a selection of NA (non-alcoholic) Microbrews courtesy of our friends at Brewery Products!

Guests will get special insight into the unique landscape and operations of Heartwood Nursery, preserved with FNLT by owner Sue Hunter in 2013.  In addition to the existing mature hardwoods tract, a large percentage of the property has been reforested with native species indigenous to the area.   This is a great chance to learn about native species that can be added to your home property - regardless of the size - for beauty and the environment.

Throughout the property, there are display gardens of varied species, and stormwater management areas have been created to reduce rainwater runoff and soil erosion. Pollinator meadows have been created to increase habitat for birds, pollinating insects, bats and wildlife. Focal points within the reforested area include a mature grove of over 125 Serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis) trees and collections of large, uncommon specimen trees and shrubs, most notably Hollies.

Specializing in American Holly (Ilex opaca and other Ilex species) production, Heartwood is proud to be an Official Holly Arboreta and Test Center registered with the Holly Society of America.

Propagators of Nursery stock since 1988, Heartwood focuses on native trees, shrubs, perennials and a few select non-native species. We are wholesale to the trade and also have a retail store open to the public Mondays through Saturdays 9am to 4pm.  NOTE: Heartwood's 15th Annual Serviceberry Festival will be held June 14th and 15th, find out more at our event!

The FNLT Annual Meeting is also the kickoff of FNLT's participation in Give Local York (which is all day on Friday, May 3rd) – you’ll be able to support FNLT in advance or in person at the Annual Meeting. Every dollar of support goes directly to FNLT’s land preservation efforts – so at this event you’ll be in the company of some really great folks!

All details regarding parking, etc. will be emailed prior to the Annual Meeting to who have a confirmed RSVP.
